No support for military from Bush

President Bush vetoed a bill which established a new time line for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. Bush stated that this was a bill which sided with the views of politicians at home rather than soldiers aboard.

I do not agree with Bush's veto of a bill which would spend over 100 billion dollars supporting our soldier in Iraq. I believe that this was a poor choice, since he sent the soldier into the middle east in the first place. He should have allowed the soldiers to return home and allow the Iraqi government to take control of their own country.

I think that President Bush does have a point that it may be a good idea not to tell the enemy when you will be withdrawing in just case anyone was planning something.
In addition if the government is not ready to take control there could be a difficult shift in power.

The War is always a touchy issue, but decisions like this one only serve to make many US citizens angry. I believe the war in Iraq is beginning to mirror the War in Vietnam. The US lost that war because it lost its propaganda war. It lost the citizen support and people began to protest. The same is happening here: by fighting an unpopular war, the president is alienating the people. Decisions like this continue to loose Bush the vital kind of support US citizens.

In my opinion I feel out troops need to come home. Personally, i can touch on thsi issue because i have a close friend that is a marine set out to be sent to Iraq in 2008. The best possible situation would be that troops were to come home and no more were sent out. George Bush needs to realize the pain and suffering many families go through with family memebers leaving for year terms or even longer. The government needs to get together some kind of bill that gets our troops home soon. Support for them is positive, but the ultimate success is if Iraq gains control of itself like you have said.

This article is a good example of the president using his veto power, which is part of the checks and balances system. Even though it demonstrates checks and balances well, it doesn't demonstrate good decision making. It's about time for the soldiers fighting in Iraq to come home. So the bill should be passed. Maybe later another part of the checks and balances system will be seen, if Congress can get 2/3 of its members to override the veto.

I have to say I'm neutral with this topic. Yes, it is time to withdraw the troops from Iraq and let the Iraq government take over. But I also have to disagree, if we withdraw our troops then maybe it would show Iraq and the rest of the world that the United States is no longer that powerful.

I feel that the soldiers should come home. There has been so many casualties in Iraq that this war isn't worth fighting for. I think that we should withdraw and leave Iraq alone for now.

Even if the U.S. would seem weaker by withdrawing, Bush has dragged this war too long with his executive powers and needs to withdraw from Iraq and let their own government take over.
