After September 11, 2001 attacks, the Bush Administration listened in on international phone calls involving people suspected of having ties to terrorist. ACLU challenged president's program that allows wiretaps without court order. The plaintiffs had no legal standing to pursue thier claims because they could not show they were targeted by the National Security Agency's warrantless spying program, the court decided in a 2-1 vote.
I think this is wrong. We the people of the United States have the right of privacy and the government cannot just tap in and out of phonecalls and emails whenever they want.

Listening to other people's phone conversations is a wrong thing to do. I can understand if the President is trying to protect the people but to go through other people's privacy is totally wrong.
I agree, although the intentions were good if they really needed to tap these phones then they should get a warrant. If these suspected people are thought to be involved in terrorism then it shouldn't be too hard to get a warrant to tap their phone lines. Tapping phone lines without a warrant is a violation of the 9th amendment in my opinion because I feel that privacy counts as one of the rights not specifically granted by the Constitution, and the President has no right to listen to conversations.
I agree as well. although it may sound like a good thing, to listen to conversations to see if anyone has been in contact with terrorism or is assisting in future terrorist attacks .. I still think it's wrong because what about the innocent people who have nothing to do with terrorism? They get people listening onto what may be their private conversations and I think that violates them in certain ways.
This definitely violates our amendments! The purpose of our amendments is to protect our rights. If situations liek these allow people to violate our rights.. then our rights are always being restricted. Plus, by violating our rights this proves that the terriost has won. Why? Because the purpose of terrorism is to take away our rights and conquer. So, by wire tapping we just helped the terrorist.
I also believe that our rights should not be violated in this way. It was okay when the public approved of the Patriot Act (right after 9/11, which they did) but as there have not even been one convicted person from the program it should be terminated.
Although the Constitution does not directly grant the people the right to privacy but there are wording within the document that gives the people that right. The government should respect a person's privacy on the phone and emails on the internet. At least they should inform the person.
