As many new studies emerge showing the benefits of breast feeding to both mother and child, the public still feels uncomfortable when they see a mother breast feeding her baby in a public place. "Today 38 states give women the explicit right to nurse in public, and 23 states exempt it from public-indecency laws." An additional 12 states allow women to use a breast pump at work to express milk. The opposers of the law state that in this country, a woman's breast is seen as a sexual object, and thus should not be viewed in public.
I support these laws. A woman's right to feed her baby, and to save $1,200 a year in formula costs, should not be hindered. A woman's baby should be fed breast milk for its own health benefits, and if that means being fed in public, so be it.

I think that a women also has a right to fed their baby in public, but I think they should do it in the restroom at least. Women should be comfortable with the idea of another women breast feeding while their using the restroom.
I feel that women should have the right to breast feed in public. If people have a problem with it they should not look. It's the same as a woman wearing a low clevage shirt. The breast is not exposed because the baby is there. It saves a lot of money and is healthy for the baby. Every mother should/must perform this task. It's natura, therefore it should def. not be banned
I do not agree with this. I think that women should be able to breast feed. Not only is it cheaper and they dina;t have to pay for formula but studies have shone that it is also better for the baby in the long run. I feel that if women want to breast feed in public they should be allowed, cause most people cover up anyways and it's theier own decision to breast feed in public places.
I feel that these bills attempting to limit beast feeding in public are proposterous! Breast feeding is one of the most natural and pure things that a human being regardless of the fact that she is a mother can do or witness. There is nothing indescent about it, and most of the new mothers that I have found feeding their children in pulic are modest enough to use a towel, so this bill will only create more conflict.
I also agree women should have the right to breast feed in public. I think if the baby's hungry then feed it.
When I'm reading the word "public" I'm thinking that it's a mother breast feeding her babies at a park on a bench or in front of a library (more like OPEN places). Am I right? or is it like "public" as in bathrooms in a library or hidden behind a tree.
Well, if it's OPEN places, I think it's not right. I think maybe it's just me, but I really feel uncomfortable with boobs being exposed. I know it's for babies, but I think they should at least cover over slightly or stand by a tree in the shade where it's not fulling EXPOSED or in bathrooms. I can't really explain in words..
I also support these laws. I women should have the right to breast feed her baby in public because it is a natural process. It is also benefial to the baby. If people are uncomfortable with that sort of sight, they should just look away.
Breast feeding should be allowed in public. If men can openly show their chests in public, women should have the right to feed their babies through breast feeding plus its more of a necessity. But, this should be done with more closure.
Why should anyone care if another human being is having lunch? Women should have the right to breast feed anywhere. To is not right to discriminate women for feeding their child.
I agree that a woman has the right to feed her baby but NOT FED IN PUBLIC. I believe it's unnecessary and rude to the public. Okay yes, if we have a problem with it, we can turn away but think of the children. How will they react? This law will only create problems to our society.
