Are current 2008 voters looking for experience.......or a fresh face?

Two candidates, former Sen. John Edwards and Sen. John McCain, started strong at first, but are now starting to lag in the polls and now in fundraising. This could lead one to speculate that voters are ready for a new and different face, such as Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

"The important thing is not experience, per se," says Obama. "Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney had the best resumes in Washington, and initiated a fiasco in Iraq."

"Obama is a fresh face, but is he experienced?" says political analyst, Stu Rothenberg. "Sen. Hillary Clinton seems to be experienced, thoughtful and measured, but is she a fresh enough face?"

Previous campaign experience has shown that it helped candidates in other elections. Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and the first George Bush all ran for president two or three times before and all were successful.

Today, it may appear that current voters want a mix of old and new.

"What people are looking for is an experienced person, but one who's also an outsider," says Amy Walter of The Cook Political Report. "And that is a very difficult combination to come up with."

In my opinion, I think the same exact way. I want a fresh face, something completely new and can add a twist to our current government, someone like Obama. Although I want someone new, I dont want a completely oblivious president representing the United States. Someone who is completely different, but impotent to run the country simply wont cut it. Someone who is new but not a complete greenhorn in the politics department would be the ideal president.

I think that right now that Obama has a very good chance of winning. Not only is he a new face but he seems to be gaining support at a higher rate than Hilary Clinton.

I think at this point, because of the events in Iraq, people will definatly want a new face. A new face will be associated with changs in our polices and the introduction of new ideas.

I agree, it's great to see a new face. I think it's time to have a new look with a new fresh face. Hopefully there new look can help us move forward better.

I agree as well. New faces are always great to see and to be introduced, especially in the political field. There has always been a stereotypical tradition of middle aged white men so I think it's a good thing to break the chain.

Yes, most deff.! A new face sounds real good. If we kept getting the same, then nothing would change, and we would be repeating things.
